Çukurova Üniversitesi 

Çukurova Üniversitesi Merkez Araştırma Laboratuvarı (CUMERLAB) bünyesinde yer alan laboratuvarımızda, Tıp Fakültesi, Fen Bilimleri ve Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitülerinden öğrencilerle, akciğer ve karaciğer kanserleri yanısıra akciğer ve karaciğerin kronik hastalıklarının moleküler araştırmaları ve hastalıklarla ilgili biyobelirteçlerin keşfi, yanısıra yeni tedaviler geliştirmek üzere tüm gücümüzle çalışıyoruz. 

Our team focus on molecular diagnostics of lung and liver cancer as well as chronic diseases of these organs and try hardly  to find a cure and discover efficient biomarkers.

Trakya Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi ve Ankara Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt EAH Göğüs Hastalıkları Kliniğinde sırasıyla Tıp ve Uzmanlık Eğitimimi tamamladıktan sonra 2010 yılında Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesinde Moleküler Tıp Doktora eğitimine başlayarak  2015 yılında Doktorasını da tamamladı. Bu süreçte ABD Washington DC’de bulunan Georgetown Üniversitesinde Prof. Dr.Aykut Üren yanında 3 yıl doktora sonrası araştırmacı pozisyonunda çalışarak temel bilimsel araştırmalar konusunda bilgi ve becerisini arttırdı. Halen Çukurova Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Göğüs Hastalıkları AD, ÇÜ Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Biyoteknoloji AD, ve ÇÜ Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsü Translasyonel Tıp AD’da kurucu olarak Dr. Öğretim Üyesi pozisyonunda görev yapıyor

On-going projects

1. Design, synthesis and biological effects of small molecule inhibitors of HIF proteins: In this project, collaborating with Toretsky-Uren Lab from Georgetown University (USA) and Departments of Biology and Chemistry from Gaziantep University (Turkey), we designed chiral sulfonamide compounds as small molecule inhibitor candidates of HIF proteins using DFT/B3LYP/6-31G* basic set on Gaussian 09 software and after synthesizing the compounds, we tested their bindings on surface plasmone resonance (SPR) system (Biacore T200). We further analyzed in-vitro biologic activity of the selected compounds on A549 cells under hypoxic conditions. In this project, I designed and performed SPR and in-vitro biological experiments. 

 

2. Generation of Primary cell lines of lung cancer and mesothelioma to assess anticancer drug screening: In this project, with collaborating Department of Thoracic Surgery and Department of Pathology at Cukurova University, we plan to optimize a panel of drug screening in patients’ tumor samples to successfully select suitable chemotherapeutic agents for précised medicine. We have started this project in Mid-2018 and up to now successfully stored two different primary cell lines of squamous cell lung carcinoma out of 8 different samples. We have stained cells with epithelial markers for confirmation and tested antitumor and apoptotic effects two newly synthesized Palladium Complexes comparing to Cisplatin.  We are still working on to shorten the primary culture processing time and after this step, we will optimize fast drug-screening technique in our lab.

 

3. The role of EMT and Ezrin in Skip N2 metastasis of Non Small Cell Lung Cancers: Epithelial to mesenchymal transition and Ezrin are well known for their role in cancer metastasis. In Non Small Cell Lung Cancer there sometimes be seen a pathological N2 lymph node metastasis that effect patient’s survival and the molecular background of this situation in not known. Therefore we intended to evaluate the expression profile of the pre-mentioned proteins.  In this project, with collaborating Department of Thoracic Surgery and Department of Pathology at Cukurova University, we will extract mRNA from paraffin embedded tissues of case and control patients and evaluate expression profiles via qPCR. We will further analyze microRNAs effecting Skip N2 events. This Project has received local ethical committee approval and will be funded by University’s Scientific Research Council starting in May 2019.

 

4. Evaluation of the hypoxic regulation of non-coding RNAs in Lung Cancers:In this project we use two commercially available and 4 primary lung cancer cell lines and study both intracellular and exosomal non coding RNAs for a) To understand the expression regulation of non coding RNAs under hypoxic conditions and 2) To evaluate the role of exosomal non coding RNAs during hypoxia. 

5. Evaluation the effects of the serum samples derived from Covid19 pneumonia patients to bronchial epithelial and cancer cells.
